STEPS BOARD OF MANAGEMENT
Jane Murray
Graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 1996 with a Bachelor of Dance, Jane then completed her Diploma of Education in Further Education and Training in 2000. Jane is based in Perth and has worked as performer and teacher in regional WA, interstate and abroad. She was the recipient of an Arts WA research and Development Grant in 1997, to study and practice community dance in the UK at Rubicon, Suffolk Dance and the Laban Centre.
Jane’s love of the performing arts and working with people has seen her perform with various independent artists, act as a facilitator on several community projects such as ‘Move’ in 1999, choreograph for Steps Youth Dance Company and Artworks Visual Arts Theatre. She has worked as a dancer/teacher for Buzz Dance Theatre (1998 -2001) served on the board of YPAA (Youth Performing Arts Australia) and Steps Youth Dance Company, and is also an Arts WA panelist. In 2002 Jane was supported by Arts WA to attend the Assitej 14th Annual Congress and Festival for Theatre for Children and Young People in Seoul, Korea. Jane is currently teaching Drama and co-coordinating the Dance programme at Perth College.
